Default Anyone using LSr cam 265lr hr12

I just ordered this cam for my stock 2009 5.3 Colorado, per recommendation of Comp Cams.

The cam specs:
215/223 @.050, .604/.610 lift
LSA: 112
Intake centerline: 107

Im most interested in streetable torque and hp gains, but I'm also hoping this cam will have a little lope to it.

Anyone using this cam? How does it perform? Did you need a Stall? Does it have a noticable sound?

Thanks!!

Default cam

I have a Comp Cam that they told me would work well in my DD
210/224 .556/.568 114LSA 1500-6600 it's a VVT cam and kit
I am not happy with it, they should have spec'd a better cam
Colly's are much lighter than Silverado's. I don't think they know
much about Colly's

Hope you have free flowing intake and exhaust!
You know you'll need a tune, right?

Those are very very different cams. Also VVT is garbage. Delete it. Period.
To the op you will love that cam should work just great with a stock stall. I would expect upward of 50rwhp gains from the cam alone. Not to mention the healthy sound and fun street manners.

Honestly I don't feel majority of the people I talk to @ Comp don't know what they are doing...

It is not surprising for their recommendation to be amiss.

I think what Ai was suggesting is that Comp often has their heads up their *** when recommending cams, especially for 5.3 VVT customers. They recommended the same VVT cam to me although it was designed for L92 headed engines.

I realize the OP does not have VVT, and that cam he mentioned looks like a good one. If he gets 50hp over stock, then exhaust would give him way more than that with cam.

I have this cam in my 2006 ECSB 2wd 5.3. Properly tuned, holy jeebus. Without the tune and you'll be frustrated to say the least.

I would also recommend to measure your pushrod length and get proper length pushrods. I ran stock 7.4's and it sounded like 8 sewing machines under the hood.

I changed out the 7.4's for 7.425's and it quietened down a lot. The reason I had to use a longer PR was because the base circle of the LSR cam is smaller than the stock one.

Not sure about the 5.3's in the Colorado's.

I have some exhaust mods, but I'm not sure if it is free flowing enough:

I had everything cut out from the y-pipe on back. I brought the muffler shop a dual inlet / dual outlet Spintech muffler (2.5" inlets/ 2.5" outlets). I told them I wanted an X-pipe and duals on back. The only thing is they welded in a 2" x-pipe and 2" pipes all the way out...didn't know it until I got the truck home.

Truck sounds good, but are those 2" pipes going to hurt me. Should I get the 2.5" pipes put on like I had originally intended?

As far as headers goes, how much will that actually help my hp and torque?

I am considering a mail order tune from Texas Speed..

..Or a local performance shop around here that will charge me $450 for a dyno tune.

I'm really on the fence. I heard Texas Speed can get it very close, but I don't know. Is the dyno tune worth double the price?

The only other mod I have in mind is headers, but they are like pretty expensive for colorados. I'll have to save a few more coin for that.

Thanks
