Na it's not really a drone, the tiny dynomax bullet I had would drone and crackle horrible, thats why i took that off.. This thing is just mellow, a little loud, but like you said I just turn up the radio a bit, it is gone.. WOT, they def know your there. My neighbors say they can here me when i start it up, they live 4 houses away.. Before I was not able to carry on a convo in the cab, with this I can no problem, if I am very light on the throttle cruising you can not hear it much at all.. Heres the tail pipe. Had them dump it at the bumper, I also have added a dynatech baffled tip, smoothed it out just a tiny bit more..

Congrats on your new exhaust! Looks very high quality!

I have a couple duramax exhaust systems laying around i might have to try, would love to hear yours.

If you keep it run out the back you shouldnt have any drone or at least less than if its dumped.

But the thing that worries me is pipe size.

I had a 5'' turbo back exhaust on my Duramax, and i had drone sometimes, switched to 4'' and it was gone. I think the sound resonance had more room to " drone or echo" in the bigger pipe.

Good luck man and please share some clips!

I also feel your 60E pain, im on my 4th build in less than 1000 miles, the 3-4 clutches just arent likeing my truck

i know its different but i have the turbo with a 4" dmax exhaust stainless magnaflow kit and I have no drone and its actually quiet. I love the exhaust note, got a good rumble out of the truck but still can go anywhere with a family in it!

Drone, however, is a completely different story. I hate it, and can hear/feel drone even if the tunes are cranked up.
I agree, and I think that a lot of guys complain of "drone" when it's actually just consistent exhaust volume. Drone is more of a resonance and often just a by-product of an exhaust system configuration as opposed to the actual exhaust note. When we have Toyota/Lexus TSB's that address drone, the fix is usually a rubber insulator or vibration dampener as opposed to a replacement muffler or resonator.

with my current set up I had drone when i added the tail pipe out the factory location, but its acutally not bad with it dumped over the axle. Not sure how that works but it does......

What happened to wrapping the muffler with header wrap supposedly killing drone? That went around a couple years ago on here it seems like.

A lot of people confuse drone and just loudness.

The length of the tubing will have an effect on drone. Like with Corsa exhaust its more than just the muffler that keeps it from droning.

Hmmm, I've never heard of that one, but it kinda makes sense since you insulate the muffler case with the header wrap.

The comment about drone vs. loudness is what I was saying earlier on in the thread...exhaust db isn't drone, drone is more or a harmonic resonance thing...

I agree about the length of tubing also, which will affect both drone and volume. Removing the tailpipes from my old Gibson cat-back was like installing a completely different exhaust on the truck. I tested my current set up without the tail pipe on it first, and it was noticeably louder with the tail pipe deleted

All you want to know about drone and more. I hacked 18" off my tailpipe and it raised the drone-zone about 300 rpms. But you want to mount your muffler as far back on your exhaust system as possible.

I'm hoping my catless lt and stock 6.2 with resonator doesn't drone or I'm going to be pissed. I will say this, with the corsa muffler I had them on everything from a stock 5.3 to a radical stroked motor and they never drones with or without the tailpipe.
