Default ASP Pulley. Should I?

I am considering in buying a UPD intake and an ASP pulley but I am not sure if I should get the pulley yet. How much gain will I notice with it? I know the UPD works great but i dont know much about the pulley. In other word is it worth the $$$ and where is the cheapest place I can buy it from?

ASP is worth it. I forget who dynoed a truck with out the ASP pullie then with it and it gained about 12 rwd HP. Definatley worth it in my opinion.

Is there a difference between changing a pulley and getting a damper? Do they make harmonic dampers for our motors? Wouldn't a damper take the place of the crank pulley?

The damper on our trucks is behind the crank pulley.. The crank pulley is bolted to the balancer which is pressed on the snout of the crankshaft. I know there are balancers for Fbodys, but i dont know if they will interchange with the trucks.. I saw a article in Hot Rod Mag,about an Fbody LS1 in which the stock balancer was changed for a after market piece and was worth a few HP

ASP pulleys appear to be a combo of crank pulley and damper. ATI seems to have a combo damper also.

Does the ASP (PN 49-948500) kill two birds w/ one stone? Actually, looks like the ATI (PN 105-917276) is a combo also, just alot more $$$$ for less %underdrive?

Yes, its just like the F and Y cars, just different offset to mate up with the acces. on the trucks...and to balance out the different stroke cranks.

The ASP pullies are one piece...pulley and balancer all rolled into one unit you can't seperate it unless you want to use a torch or a hammer and beat it apart. I have heard in a couple mags about the aftermarket ones not being that good, but hey who knows I haven't seen a motor come apart yet because of one. Just make sure you get a new crank bolt (as they are tq to yeild) and really crank that sucker on there tight.
