Avalanche intake, exhaust, and performance programmer
i have a 2011 avalanche and i was told today that if i put on an cold air intake system that it will actually drink more gas instead of helping it and the exhaust system will end up doing the same thing and that i need to put a programer in my avalanche instead of doing that the programers were hypertech and a superchip.... should i still consider the intake and exhaust system which is magnaflow and flowmasters or should i go the other road and just put in the programer... i'm looking for better gas milage cause of as much as i drive but i also am looking for a good sounding truck. I can't decide if the guy was trying to make a sale today or what. I've heard withe a airaid or K&N airfilter with a new exhause system will not only sound great but it will get the proper air flow through the truck and increase gas milage. Would someone help with me and tell me which way i should go from their experiences of trucks and tahoes specifically avalanches.

It doesn't necessarily have to be an either-or dilemma. Why not get exhaust, intake and a tune as well? As far as hypertech and superchips, stay away you're much better off to get a custom tune from someone such as blackbear, or pretty much any shop that specializes in tuning gm vehicles. They can do a much better job of tuning than a handheld programmer does and they're often cheaper as well. With gas mileage, I don't think an intake and exhaust will hurt it as long as you keep your foot out of the throttle, but that can be hard to do after making performance upgrades.

get a magnaflow exhaust. spector cold air intake, and a nelsons tune. yes it will " use more gas" but thats what ur getting on it but it will also wake ur truck up alot! im getting 22 mpg on 33's in my truck but i have alot more done to it that that if u do what i stated ull save more than the name brand crap and see a big difference in your truck. you wont be disappointed

it will be more efficient and only reason for sucking more gas is you gettin on it more due to your lil extra power lol....selling a brand brand new in box aem cold air intake....just so you know....its listed in the classifieds section....magnaflows are nice and come in different size for however loud/quiet you want....and nelson is a badass tuner....
feel free to pm me or text me with any other questions....rob (956) 802-7700

also around here they don't have tunning specialist like yall are talking about they only have stores where they sell those certian brands that i listed and said i should go that way and just drop a new air filter in the stock instead of changing the whole set up of the cold air intake... i kinda wanted to stay away from the programers but if it will help then i will be heavily invested in it... i travel a ton and i need this thing to sound good for my preference but not only perform on the highway... and you would choose a spector cold air intake over a K&N or airaid?????

Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability
there a great shop its what im running along with alot of other guys. a custom tune from them is one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do it will cost around $300 for it. and although it sounds like alot its less expensive that a " programmer" and wayyyy better. as far as how it uses more gas i was meaning like if u floor it now vs with the mods the mods will use alittle more because ur able to use alittle more fuel but just crusing around it wouldnt surprise me if u seen 2-4 more mpg high way?

AIRAID - The Performance Intake Company
This is a good intake to consider, it changes just the intake tube and filter and gets the same results as a complete intake system and for a lot less money. You can order a custom tune from Blackbear tuning via mail, and they also travel to meets they set up around the country. They may not be the only ones who do this just the only ones I know of. A custom tune will be way better than any programmer you can buy. Start with the intake and exhaust first, then a tune would complement them nicely if you desired.

Here is what i would do..
Airraid MIT tube, new filter in stock box
Exhaust of your choice
Blackbear performance tune or any of the sponsors.. Wheatley is also a top notch tuner.
