Re: avalnche questions?
We have a member running a Whipple + a few other goodies in the 13's with a 5.3 - keep in mind that the 1500 AV is about 900 lbs heavier than the typical Silverado.
I have the 2500 [8.1L] and am almost there.

Re: avalnche questions?
My dad has a 2002 Avalanche with all the bells and whistles on it, not to far from you in Lumberton NC. It's a great truck with a nice ride, and lots of storage and leg room in it. It makes me want to load it up and head to the mountains to go camping.
His truck was very heavy though. I think it was around 5600lbs? That 5.3 behind it felt completely different than my standard cab base 2wd 1500 with the 5.3. It felt very weak until the rpms built up, with little low end grunt. I suppose that should be expected though, since it weighs over 1400 lbs more than my truck!
It gets around 17mpg on the highway which isn't bad for a truck of it's size. If your not looking to win any races with it, then you'll probably like it. I know I do!
