Default bad news

i was putting my 02 simms on today and when i was under the truck i noticed that there was oil all over the tranny and oil pan. well, i checked all the bolts, the oil filter etc...they were all fine, so i was a little confused to say the least. well once i fired it up to make sure they were working and so on i was standing at the front of the truck with hood open when my friend noticed that there was oil on the passenger header coming from the valve cover, there are two small spots of oil coming from the outside of the V/C, what would cause this? they are tightened down properly, and they are stock covers unaltered in any way.....what's up with that?

Try putting in a new valve cover gasket first. It is really cheap.

Those gaskets are notorious for poping out of place if you have ever had it off. Pull it and see if it got pinched.
