Default bar/cage questions? other track rules?

anyone ever see one in a 99+silverado? i would like to see some pic's. how much is it in the way and how visiable is it from the outside of the truck?

i dont know much about actual track rules, i think out local track is ihra, what other rules are there? i am sure a harness is required can you have a 5 point and still use the stock seats? can you just use the lap part or like a 3 point on a harness set up for daily driving?

IF i do go with the track rules i would want to make it legal for 10's at least but legal for 9's would be better.

i have seen people run low 11's at my track and not get kicked off and i have seen people run 11.9 and be told to leave. there is no way anyone would get to run more than one 10sec pass at my track.

Parish,If you've got to run one work it to your advantage.Tie the cage to the frame at suspension mounting points to strengthen them, put the main loop outside the cab and run tubes under the cab so there is as little cockpit intrusion as possible. And while you are at it put a light or two on the outside loop with a Z71 decal and KC hilites the average Joe will think you just hosed the mud off to go to town.

you will have to have atleast a 6PT cage, full 5 pt harness, long wheel studs, driveshaft safety loop, tranny shatter shield and i think safety glass at the minimum to go 10s in the truck. i plan on an 8pt cage whenever i get this one finished and get another one to go all out on.

I was just thinking about this yesterday and kinda looked the cab over while going down the road to see that there isn't much room.

That dood that came in that thought his **** didn't stink with a bad *** truck had one custom made. I don't remember his name or his site though.

According to nhra.com cars running 10.00 and slower can run a roll bar. They also have an illustration that shows how to build it in the frequently asked questions section.I guess the 10.00 would apply to trucks to.

thats prety cool, if i could build that on the outside of the cab and only have the one tube come in past the door and even make that one removeable, prety much no obstruction at all. not sure if i could get the 6" max from my head to that bar with it outside though.

With 13/4" tubing,I would just paint the bar to match the truck I don't think it would be noticable.
