Default BBK SSi intake manifold...

Has anyone swapped one of these out with the stocker? I don't recall seeing this one talked about about much... I keep looking at the rounder-looking one and daydreaming...

If your stock, dont bother with it. If you had a cam I could maybe see it.

All I can say is that it looks nice. Check out the external engine section on LS1tech. Hardly anyone runs one, and most threads about them turn into the aluminum heatsoak arguement. I gauruntee if you ask this question over there, they will say something about heatsoak and then recomment etheir the LS6 or FAST intake.

Yeah, I searched a bit for it over there and that's pretty much what I found out. Similar performance to the LS6, but with heatsoak. The way I look at it is that all those 302 Mustangs and older sbcs guys have aluminum or cast iron intakes, and they're not really complaining about them. Plus the fact that their intake actually caps off the valley unlike ours that sits over the plate like it does seems like they would get that heat soak all the time. I'm sure that haveing a composite intake like the Fast or LS6 would keep the AF ratio in line all the way to the ports a little better, so I guess the point it really mute unless I happened to go FI.

It'd be cool if GM had put in a program into the PCU that calculated the increase in temperature from the MAF to the ports so that the actual amount of fuel needed would be correct. Is that even possible with our computers? Just throwin' that out there...
