Default bed bouncing.....

i have a 2000 5.3l single cab fleet side silverado.

here's my info:

5.3l
jba headers
k&n fipk kit
HPPIII & thermostat
Granatelli MAF
Poweraid spacer
dual flowmaster one chamber muffs w/dumps
high-flow cats
traction bars
4:10 gear
eaton full posi-traction unit (stock one blew)

now here's my problem:
i punch the pedal and what happens?
the bed shakes like crazy resulting in a poor jump
which i should have a kick *** one with the 4:10
any suggestions? maybe a stabilizer bar?

lowered?
sounds like wheel hop bud.
thats not a good thing as it tends to break parts.

When did it start? Some of these trucks don't like 410's. Your gear could also not be set up right. But what you describe, I agree with Steve.

Edit: BTW welcome to the site.

Maybe your bed is loose? It's only eight bolts tourqued to like 40lbs. I dont know, but if it really is just go under there and tighten them. Although, it does sound like some wheel hop. Get some CalTrac traction bars.

it is wheel hop definitely because the truck did it when i dropped the stock bumper with a fiberglass roll pan and i lowered the truck.

i have to generic lakewood trac bars...

it was hopping way before i put the 4:10 in it.

i'm going to get some 295/50/16 BFGoodrich tires to see if they will help out a little bit in the back.

right now i'm running on 275/55/16 General.

when you dropped the truck, did you add the little plates that change the pinion angle?

tires i dont think will help completley solve the problem. you need to check the pinion angle also.

how low did you go?

hey steve

i added a 2" / 4" drop

how do i check the pinion angle?

another person told me when i lowered the truck it kinda bent the driveshaft down in the middle forcing it to have to lift up and that problem could be causing the truck to bounce to?
does that sound right to you?

Get a new Carrier Bearing support if your pinion angle is that far off. Iv'e never heard of a 2-4 drop being that far off, but I know a 4-6 drop requires a new CB support. Since 6 is only two inches lower than 4, it could be possible you need one. Belltech has the best Carrier Bearing support that is fully adjustable. Check it out just to be sure...I was gonna put a link here, but www.belltechcorp.com doesn't show a picture of it.

OOPS! I just read that your truck is a regular cab (or single cab like you said). Too much makes me . Nevermind what i said before about the Carrier Bearing support. Check out some axle shims like the others said...if that seems to be the prob.
