Benefits of LS6 ported oil pump and double roller timing chain?
OK, I know the double roller timing chain/gears are tougher than nails and practically bulletproof, but what are the other benefits that one might gain from installing it and a Ported LS6 oil pump when foing a cam swap? I only have abou 27K so I don't really NEED to change either..I'm just trying to figure out if I should go ahead and save up the $ and get those two items and change them when I do the cam swap. The drawback is I'd have to wait to do it all at once until I got the bread for the pump and chain...but if the positives outweigh a little money and waiting on the swap, then that's what I'll do!
Thanks fellas!

To me it was piece of mind. Although many have pumped some serious hp using the stock chain, personally I didn't like the slop in it when I put in my first cam. If you've ever opened the timing cover before you know what I mean. The rollmaster double chain I put in, has nearly 0 play. Just enough for you to work with it, that's it. Since I was going to have to get that off, I also replaced the pump over to the ported LS6. Again, just piece of mind. Do they make a diff in the whole scheme of things? Maybe, maybe not. It's kind of like putting in better pushrods - piece of mind.
I got the chain from SDPC and the pump from Thunder Racing. Both ran about $210. Worth it to me.

I would replace the chain, but I wouldn't go to the trouble of doing a double chain. I have a Rollmaster on my T/A, going with a single JWIS chain on the truck. I kept the stock oil pump on the T/A, but I have a TR modified pump for the truck.
