Default best cam for my vortec 327?

i have the 5.3 vortec motor in my dads truck, you know the 327 aluminum one, and we were looking for which cams can go in there?

i heard the one from the SS truck would give me another 50 hp or so, i just wanted to check with you guys first before i spent the money.

my friend said he would sell me his SS truck cam for $365, which is a lot cheaper than comps cam.

thanks

thats a rip off

the LQ9 SS cam is the same as 01-02 fbodys...so you could get that cam for like $20 off ebay.

there are some many cam threads for 5.3's...

yeah it would work but just take the cam you take out of the 327 and put it in the 283. that should be good for aleast 30hp man if you do all this your going to have some fast *** trucks running around.

I think you should put a 6.0 in it and then get a cam from a 4.8 and make it really haul azz....maybe even try some 8.1 heads?

I keep hearing from guys that the new HEMI cams really wake up the LS motors, maybe thats something to look into?

it runs okay now, starts pulling hard about 1200 rpms all the way til 4800.. i think the SS cam is supposed to pull til like 5500 ?
