Best headers for a 5.3
#6
From what I have seen from some dyno runs, I don't think headers are a good bang for the buck. They dont' improve the performance enough for the big cost, on an otherwise stock engine.
Your money would be better served, in a tune getting the TM out of there and letting these engines run. The cats on these don't restrict like the old ones, and taking them off is not going to gain you much at all. A good true dual exhaust setup with equal length pipes and low restriction mufflers and a good tune and I think would really wake it up.

Longtubes, offroad y-pipe, straight-through exhaust (whatever brand), and a computer tune. If you have the extra cash, a higher stall would be nice TrailBlazer or something like a 2600-2800 stall would wake it up

Ok so I guess the Pacesetters off road y pipe and the Magnaflow muffler I have now would do the trick. What would be the best tune, HP Tuners and have some dyno time or should I just order a tune from Nelson or pcmforless.com? I have a friend that bought Hp Tuners software to tune a Z06, so he has the program. What exactly do I need to buy, another program or can I just buy another module to tune it with? Thanks
