Default Best Location for X-Pipe

I have a 2001 Chevy 2500 that I'm going to remove the cats and run all new exhaust. This will be a true dual system with LT headers. I plan on using an x-pipe also. Where is the best location for the x-pipe?

Mine is right where the flange for the factory y pipe use to be.

I was all excited about the x pipe, spent all day redoing my exhaust.....welding a million pieces of mandrel bends together. Exhaust does not even sound like it has a x pipe. Bummer

I think the sound you were after comes from having a completely equal length exhaust... like a corvette. Just putting an X in there won't give you what you're after.

Being completely equal is why a mustang always sounds pretty good, and why a corvette always has so much more of a race type tone to it than any other LSx based car. I wish I could duplicate that as well... but with so much crap in the way between the fuel tank, transfer case, and the front driveshaft its almost impossible in our trucks.

X-pipes will make it sounds different @ WOT, sounding better than a Y idk its mostly a personal liking my old setup with X-pipe was nice and crispy tone and aggresive @ WOT my X-pipe was about a foot away from the headers
