Default Best the stock 4.8L could muster.

I took the truck out again to day to see if I could get better traction than last time and to see if I could get closer to a 14sec run than before.

Well traction was better but since the temps were a bit warmer I figured I'd leave the stereo stuff in as well as the tailgate. Last time I weighed it with no subwoofer and 1/2 a tank of gas it was 4300lbs so 4460 raceweight. I figure today it was about 4510 since the subwoofer weighs 45lbs and I had 3/4 tank of gas.

2 best runs were:

60': 2.300
1/4: 15.292
MPH: 90.37

60: 2.328
1/4: 15.303
MPH: 90.34

I got 6 runs in total and most were all 15.3-15.45 with 1 bad run (lifted) and 1 with a passenger.

The truck doesn't have a ton more in it but if I would have been able to stall up on the converter i think I could have maybe busted out a 15.19 or a lil better but this is all I could do to keep from spinning. Still all in all not too bad for a bone stock 4.8L with a quicky tune (slightly altered shift points and TQ managment reduction, no timing or fuel changes).

Funny thing is I came close to winning my lanes bracket. It came down to 3 cars (1 had the by) and I tree'd the hell out of the guy, his .183 to my .068 but nearing the end of the run I look over my shoulder to see how close he is and if I should lift and I can't see him at all. I look forward but see no headlights so I look in my rear view mirror and I see headlights WAAAAY back there in the opposite lane so I lift off the gas in fear I may break out, I figure he broke so I got this in the bag and didn't wanna ruin my run. As soon as i lift I hear him slam a gear right beside me and he blows past me and takes the win light... The bastard was in my blind spot the whole time and I couldn't see his headlights shining on the ground because of my HIDs being so bright! Grrr.....

Nope, havent had a chance to put his truck on the new dyno yet. It was just more so of adding some TQ managment to it and changing how it shifts. Like he said, no power changes yet.

Nah, Rick didn't have the dyno yet. I went up there one night to hang out and go to dinner with the guys and I asked Rick to change my upshift points for better freeway driving and take out some TQ managment. He didn't do anything else really. It took him all of about 5min to make the changes then we rolled out to dinner. So it definately wasn't one of his REAL tunes. Just a quicky.. Man i feel violated. LOL

Also he left the rev limiter really low at like 6100 or so (stock valve springs so he wanted to be safe) and I was shifting into 3rd right before the end of the 1/4mile and it was hurting my ET as the truck would really slow down when it did. If i could have hung it out and stayed in 2nd longer I know I would have gotten another 10 or maybe a 1.5 10ths. It was pretty dramatic when it hit 3rd.

For the record I don't have the Caltracs on right now. They sent me the wrong bars so i took em off at Ricks last sat. and they are making me a new set. That's why traction sucked.

One of my buddies was there in his new 4.8L 02' RCSB. His is all tricked out with a full custom paint job, 4x6" drop, 20s, mid-length headers, exhaust, 4.10s and intake and HPP3 and he was running 15.03@92.4mph on 2.4 60's.

That dyno sounds awesome, I was reading the other post on some great gains with it. I invested in HP tuner but I would not mind spending some money to get it on that dyno. I just have to figure out how I am going to get from Arizona to Nor Cali.

Well when you decide to put the FI or nitrous on it then it'll defiantely be worth your time. You can just make a trip out of it and we'll all go to the Norcal-LS1 Shootout at Sac Racewayin Sept. You can just crash at my place. LOL

The drive is about 11 hours from Prescott, AZ to the Bay Area. I can make it from Prescott to Poenix in an hour and a half. So 12.5 hours plus whatever it takes to get from Tucson to Phoenix.

LOL @ Weedo

It is the 02' Silvy in my Sig. We have not start putting all the mods on it yet. The Z71 is getting wrapped up so I can't start the Silvy till it's finished. We have most of the parts just sitting at the shop gathering dust. LOL

I know it's not glamerous but a lot of people have been asking what a stock 5.3L RCSB can do and I see way to many responses with high 15s as an answer. I though I'd post up my results to add weight to those who have been saying low 15s. Hehehe

Quick Reply: Best the stock 4.8L could muster.
