Question Better Gas Mileage?

My friend has a Silverado SS and is not really looking for more power but better gas mileage. He was thinking doing headers would get him better gas mileage while I was thinking more along the lines of induction or tuneing. Has anyone used a hypertech, predator, superchips, JET 1 or 2 chip, or custom tunning (Ed Wright) on their trucks and got better gas mileage. He is not against more power it is just not his main objective it would be a bonus.

TIA

The only sure-fire way of getting better gas mileage out of a SS is to keep your foot out of it. Electric fans and a custom tune will probably help the most, but 99% probably, comes from driving habits. That's why I'm getting about 11-11.5 mpg.

electric fans, UD pully, custom tune. Im guessing that huge exhaust floes pretty well at low rpms.
