with my truck in sig i am averaging 22.9-23.3mpg in town. i have 8 miles to work and 8 miles home, so 16miles a day. but when i get to half tank i fill up. usually about 300 miles. with a bottle of Seafoam every tank. (dont know if it helps but it does idle smoother now)
and thats with the hypercrapper running premium on 93tune.
wonder what is goin to be when i get some LS1 fans, Exhaust, and a tune?
and my tires are 30x10-16 and im fixin to get some Toyo Proxes S/T's that are 29x11-16. hopefully it wont hurt my mileage to much with 3.42's?
im shooting for 25mpg in town, then im goin for 26. who know?

In my brand new 06 Z71 with the L33 Option alum blk 5.3 and 3.42 gears I am averaging about 18 MPG mixed city/highway driving. Driving home from my parents house in the country the day that I bought it, about 200 miles away, @ 70 mph I averaged about 23 mpg. Right now I have less than 1000 miles on it, so I'm hoping once its broken in, it gets better.

1Fun,

How do you like that Hooker Aerochamber muffler? I am trying to decide on what brand to go with, Not sure how loud I want it, but I am looking at Hooker, Magnaflow, Dynomax ultraflow, or the Edelbrock RPM series. Your clip sounds good though. Pretty much stock motor except the intake and tune?

I love it. I like Corsa, but the money spent isnt worth it IMO. Yeah the motor is bone stock. It has good tone and minimal resonance in the cab. I would say it is close to the sound level inside as with the Corsa. This my experience with the two. The WOT sound is very nice and isnt near as raspy as it was with the corsa. Dont get me wrong I am a huge Corsa fan and think its the best catback system on the market. The way I see it, the hooker A/C is 59 bucks and is great all around. I do want to hear the hooker MaxFlow. I wonder which sounds better. I know it lows better than th A/C.

I just found out how bad 3.42's tow........ I am getting 4.10's. 12MPG with 2500lbs behind the truck.

Best I ever got was 17.9mpg following a big rig at 55mph outside of El Paso. DPS was heavy that day. Also had a tail wind. I average 15.5 all around and 16.5 mostly highway. 40 miles round trip a day for work. Setting the cruise at 65mph doesn't help any when I drive to Ft. Worth or Houston from Austin. Still in the 16's. It's still 2-3mpg better than my old '91 with the 5.7L, both of which are 4x4's. Keep it below 70 and don't race around town, keep the air cleaner clean, have the oil changed regularly, spark plugs in good condition, tires properly inflated, that sorta thing.
