Default Is it better to go too long or too short on pushrods?

Stock pushrods are 7.380". My heads are milled .020. So to stay the same length as stock I'd require 7.36" pushrods. I can either go with 7.35 or 7.375". Since in the near future I'll be adding an aftermarket cam (and I don't want to have to mess with the top end then), and they do have smaller base circle I'd prefer to go with the 7.375's. Will the added .015" of lifter preload cause any problems? Thanks.

stock cam for the time being. Cam will be going in with the 80e and converter. The heads being milled throws things off a little. I think I'm going to go with the 7.375" and I guess it would also be a good idea to put new lifters/trays in on the head swap.

Lifters should be fine, trays if you want, they re cheap enough.. I am running milled heads(20k) with 7.4's The lifters will take up that difference..

Well giving 80k, they might be a good idea, but the old ones should still be fine..I assume it would be good insurance I guess I didnt, cause my 6.0 was just about brand new.. Also why are you waiting to put the cam in, I would do it all at the same time...

Stock push rod length is 7.400". Stop guessing and buy the $20 dollar tool and measure to be sure.
