It's been done. I know the V6's use the same mounts as a SBC, and I'm pretty sure that SBC's and BBC's use the same mounts as well, so it shouldn't be hard at all. Maybe start researching in that direction. Oil pan clearance and header fitment might be issues, but I'm sure it's nothing that can't be worked around. I wouldn't even think about bolting the 60-e up to a BBC....I would look into an 80-e since they came behind BBC's in the early 90's.

As far as asking why...who cares?? A 572 crate motor and some spray would make for an awesome ride. And it would sound oh so sweet!

Good luck with it, and post pics if this is the route that you decide to take.

I know this is an extremely old post but no the new 4.3L and the old small block and big blocks don’t use the same Engine mounts the new 4.3s use the same 4 mounting holes as the LS engines not the 3 hole as the SBC\BBC

Will the 4L60E bolt up to a BBC? Thanks Guys!
No, no, no....the 4l60e will die a quick death behind the HP and TQ of a BB. Swap it out.

This post is terribly old but it does get the gearing turning. 408 would be laughable compared to a BBC. You can overbore them .125 and not break a sweat. Times have changed so much. It's hard to believe the sun has set on the BBC. I remember getting picked up from school by my father everyday with a BB thumping along under the hood. I remember the throttle being pinned and that A body coming around sideways. That is where it all started for me. HAHA. Those were the times. We even had AC in that car.

I'm sure the OP that posted this 13 years ago and hasn't been on the site in the past 5 years really cares.

Yea so I am new here and pretty old school. I have owned many BBC muscle cars and trucks. I wanted to recreate the SS 454 in a 2005 short bed stepside body. What a total nightmare I have gotten into. I wish I would have read all these texts B4 I started. So I REALLY want to talk to whoever has completed this crazy idea. Currently the 454 is built to 525 HP, 9.7 to 1. Totally blacked out truck with SS nose- black billlet grille- 20" wheels- roll pan- etc. The truck body and interior are perfect and running w/a 6cyl. in it Glad I have stopped. Need a bit of advice here!!!!

I recommend starting a new thread in the projects section. Tell us all about your project, plans, goals ETC and detail the issues you are having. Pictures help draw attention too
