Default Big Cam with Highway Driving?

Ok well I spend my time searching without much luck.
Basically here are my questions.

Will a 224/224 comp cams xer 114 lsa with .581 lift be too my for my 1999 ecsb 5.3L silverado?

I spend 95% of my time driving on the highway and I'm a little curious how a cam that big will react on the highway? How much will my gas mileage suffer?

I've done searches for 5.3L with 224 sound clips(didn't find much). I've done searches for if that cam is too big for my ext cab and I read mixed results.

Please let me know what everyone's general thoughts are on this cam. I know everybody likes it in 6.0's and with nitrous but I'll be running it in a heavy truck with a 5.3L and doing mostly highway driving.

Thanks

Oh and I'll be running a 3k stall with it.

You will either need to go to a 3400 stall or go down to a 3000. I ran a 222/224 112 in my old 5.3 and it was fine on the highway it was bit weaker going up some hills then stock but other then that it was fine. My truck needed a 3600 to come out of the hole hard. I think you should go with a 220 cam, Goshawk had less then stellar reults with his 224/5.3 combo. Come down to my place end of December Ill be installing silver-mod-o's 224/227 in his 5.3 ecsb 2wd and oyu can how you like that.

wait your place in Austin? I'd love to come over and check it out. I want to tackle the install myself but I don't want to do it by myself and my friends are incompitent. Maybe we could work something out and do them both at the same time? I'd really just need someone to look over what i'm doing rather than do it for me.

EDIT- Looked in GoShaw's thread list and I found this:https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=362739
From the looks of the thread he seemed to like it alot?

I have the 224 on a 112 lsa and it works Ok on the highway. I easily average 16 on the highway and 18 if I keep it crusing at 75. I don't have a sound clip but you can hear the lope big time. Compared with the stock cam you will definately loose low end power but the high end really kicks ***. Hope this helps. The reason I installed this cam was because I saw goshawk and other people having good results.

I'll let you know how my 224/224/581/581/115 works out with the Radix on my ECSB LQ9 6.0L with a 2400-2600 stall.
Anyone know how my combo will react to normal driving? Not trying to steal your thread man, I'm just curious.

Random yeah it will go down at my place here in Austin. I dont think there iwll be enough time to do them both in one day unless he gets up here early in the morning and we get his knocked out then do yours. I would be willing to help you out. When are you planning on doing this?

well I'll probably at least show up and check stuff out and maybe lend a hand if that's cool. The way I see it, if you just let me park my truck there, I could show up with my truck(assuming I buy my cam), and I'd do almost all the work myself, I'd just maybe ask for your help on what to do so I don't drop a lifter or something.
