i would disagree a bit.... with that 408ci, i would consider a t88 t4 or something with a t6 turbine on it. With my current money pit, AKA my camaro, i already had a 408 and needed to match a turbo to the build. The t76 will fall of its efficency map. Also, the amount of lbs/min being pumped out of the 408 into a singel T4 turbo will cause and insane amount or pre-turbo backpressure and surge issues.

IF anything, i would recommend a t-88 or a t6'd 80mm. MAybe even a t6'd 76mm. IF you had gone with a twins, then twin 76's would be absolutely nutz... but given this being a single setup, i would advise to look for a larger turbo OR ALTEAST into a t6 type of turbine housing, maybe a tang'd housing.

Obviously this was before the 3.3L Whipple and the 2.8L KB were realities.

Last he posted he is running a 402 with a vic jr on it and will have the turbo on later. A supercharger will never be able to compete with the power of a turbo on a stroker motor IMO.

If you are talking strictly a race truck then certainly turbo rules the roost. But I think the 3.3L Whipple will dominate from idle through 4000-4500 RPM, which is where a turbo big enough to beat the Whipple would have to come on. This is more than half the RPM band for a truck, so I don't fully buy the 'never be able to compete' statement for a blower.

I know there are those who focus on different things, I am looking for daily driver characteristics as well as speed and fun, which means roots/twin-screw or small turbo. If you're talking race only, however, I would agree with you.

Something tells me you have never really researched strokers with turbos, take a look at some dyno charts and come back and we can talk.

There is a boosted list on tech with all kinds of dynos etc, a stroker gives you more then enough tq down low for DD duty but as soon as the loud pedal hits the floor boost comes and in and the TQ cureve SPIKES big time.

A stroker big enough to run a big turbo (or a big Whipple, for that matter) has to run, what - 8.5:1 compression? Is there enough power below when the converter flash stalls to do anything constructive? I mean, really?

Let's say you're running 15 psi, just as an example. Maybe I don't understand the Whipple, but don't you get full boost right off idle, which, even with a converter, would start at, what - 2800 RPM?

Assuming the stroker is built similarly, you're running 2800-6500 RPM with the 3.3L Whipple and 4500-6500 RPM with the turbo. Which has more usable range? With fewer shifts? And by usable I'm including DD characteristics.

I certainly don't know very much in this area, so I'm willing to be educated on this.

You are assumming ALOT by saying the turbo turns on at 4500, Ill do some searching and get you some charts.
