Default Bigger intercooler results!!!!!!!

Just finished swapping out the stock ATI intercooler with a big griffin just like Pro stock Johns.

I did a log with the old intercooler 5 nights ago, results were--
DA-7671 feet (ouch!)
Ambient- 79 degrees
IAT- went from 91.4 to 149.0 0-100mph gain of 57.6 degrees
4000rpm(launch)- 22.32 lb/min
4800rpm(bottom of shift)- 35 lb/min
5800rpm(shift point)- 43 lb/min
Saw 10 psi

Tonight with new intercooler--
DA-7005 feet
Ambient-73 degrees
IAT- went from 77 to 104 0-100mph gain of 27 degrees
4000rpm-- 27.12 lb/min
4800rpm-- 42 lb/min
5800rpm-- 54 lb/min
Saw 11 psi

I gained (approx)
50 hp at launch
70 hp at the bottom of the shift
110 hp at the shift point
and 1psi

These numbers are what I used to see in the winter when it was 20 degrees outside and the DA was in the 3000 feet range!!!

Man, that ATI intercooler must be restrictive!!

I'd say this project was a HUGE success!

One weird thing, my air/fuel went from 11.7 to 1 to 10.5 to 1 with no tuning changes. Only change was the intercooler swap. Anyone have any idea on that one?

That is just an incredible gain from an intercooler swap!! Amazing what a l'il cool air will do. Congrats! I bet you wish you had done this earlier, huh?

I could take some, if someone would host them for me.

Oh yeah. I always wanted to swap it, but I got mixed reviews on whether it would help or not. Some people said I would lose boost and airflow with a bigger cooler, and I'd have to install a smaller pulley to get power back.

i dont see that a/f change all that suprizing. my a/f ratio is all over the place when i make changes. you just have to retune now.

Something else I noticed along with the richening up, was my wideband readings are a WAY more steady line now. Before the intercooler it looked like an earthquake shaky line. It jumped back and forth almost a full point. Now, its almost flat, jumps back and forth less than 1/10th of a point.

Maybe the richer air/fuel is from less fuel lost to cooling down high cylinder temps. The fuel is able to do its job and make power?? Just a thought?
