why worry about getting a built 5 or 6 speed, just upgrade your clutch and run it hard, t-5 are proven transmissions, i think thats what your have maybe a nv 4500 which is proven also, becareful when you bang gears though since it has such a long shifter handle its puts alot of stress on the base where it bolts to the trans, ive seen a few break there.

Like the ones from lunati etc., I could put out that pwr? I'm not looking to be the fastest or put out 600+hp. I don't have the mechanical ability for all that. Just something really fun.
I have a Kenne Bell s/c and the LS1 edit and I am only getting 344 rwhp out of my 5.3. So I think you would have to go with the heads and a cam and maybe even NoS. But I don't see you getting 450 rwhp out of that block. If you do it wont be for very long. Oh yeah the KB kit comes with the injectors and a cold air intake which is pretty cool because it drops in just below the headlight and gets air from the grill and not under hood 200* air and it is sealed off. Get the s/c and the tune and go from there. Have fun with it but be careful.

You could bore the 4.8L block out .120" and put ls1 pistons in it. That would give you 312 Cid or add an 3.625" crank and you would have an iron ls1.
I have been thinking of doing this to my old 5.3L thats sitting in the garage.

So a .030 or even a .060 bore isn't gonna hurt the motor to much if guys are boring .120. Any idea of how long these motors are running or do they tear themselves apart quickly? Doing something like that with a stroker kit, s/c, and a small hit of nos would do the trick, wouldn't it?

litllered 4.8: hey sorry to burst your bubble but you are not the 1st to build a 4.8. then only diffrence is that mine is still only going to end up being 294ci. As for everyone else i got 435 rwhp out of my 4.8 with a stick lower end. And that was with a weak tune and a slipping 3rd gear. I would say if you are goin to stroke it then just go with a stroked 5.3 or 6.0. and 4.8's are 4l60e killers. i am on my 3rd.

Sweet! Sounds like you are on the way to 11's in a 4.8!
