As for everyone else i got 435 rwhp out of my 4.8 with a stick lower end. And that was with a weak tune and a slipping 3rd gear. I would say if you are goin to stroke it then just go with a stroked 5.3 or 6.0. and 4.8's are 4l60e killers. i am on my 3rd.

The 5 speed behind the 4.8's is the NV3500. It's crap, and is so weak that GM won't even let you order it w/ the 5.3. Get a T-56 if you wanna stay w/ rowing your own.
If you wanna stay w/ the 4.8/5.3 block, I've heard of people punching them .120-over. Dunno about the longevity of a setup like that, but w/ a 4" stroker crank that would be in the 370 neighborhood. But I think that you'd end up spending about the same as the relatively cheap 402/408 packages from SLP and HPE. Why not get the extra cubes since you'd have to pull the motor anyway?
