It is not the 4.8, it is the trans.....they are weak from the factory.

That's what I was figuring - all these motors kill '60's.

The way it was worded, I thought there was something different with the 4.8's.

Not trying to hijack but why is it that the 4.8's kill the '60's?

its just the 4l60 is very weak. so weak even a 4.8 with less torque could bust it.

Sweet.

Curious, what size valves did you go with on your vette heads?

----
I guess I should rephrase that. What did ARE do about the bore size of your 4.8 matting up to the ls1/6? heads used on a larger bore.

they are ls1's. I really dont know what size they are. i ordered them through tbyrne and some where in the mess of things they lost the specs on them. so the head specs are really unknown. but i am tearin the motor apart soon and am goin to have the heads sent out and flow tested so i will then know what the specs actually are.

It would be a round-down,right(for the 293)? That's what the '294' in my name is for...read it as that somewhere...wrongly it seems.
Sorry for being off-subject. Hope it ends up being a good build. Small displacement but some of those Ford guys are getting a lot out of those 4.6s.
Chevy has the largest after-market,by far.
