I sold my 2001 LS6 cam because I was under the impression that I would lose too much low end. Maybe I really fudged up and should've went with it because I plan on 4.10 gears in the future anyway.

cam for the 2002 LS6 Corvette. It features .550" intake and exhaust lift, 218 degree exhaust duration and 204 degree intake duration at .050", and 117.5 degree lobe centers
this camshaft is original equipment in LS6 Vortec engines. It features .525" intake and exhaust lift. 217 degree exhaust duration at .050", 207 degree intake duration at .050", and 116 degree lobe bolts
with the second i dont think you will lose as much down low

What do you think about a B1 cam 221/221 .558/.558 114? Do you see any problems with that cam on stock tuning?

that would probably RUN on stock tuning, it woulnd't run to it's full potential, but that's any cam other than the stock one.

If you are going to buy a cam, get one custom ground. Stay away from the LS6 cams unless you are going to want the cheap way out. For stock tuning and good power and retinaing as much low end as possible, I'd try a Comp cams XE 208 / 208 114lsa .554 lift +4 degrees advance. Run it with comp 918 springs.

just curious Richard, why does a higher lift, but a somewhat low duration with the 4 degrees keep low end power as opposed to something with the same lift with a higher duration number?

The biggest factor in determining the powerband range is the total duration. You want more power, you have to move the powerband up. The trick is to get as much power as possible without having to spin 6500 rpms to get it. Lift is a good way to get more air in without increasing the duration. The LSA will determine the shape of the curve, higher will make it a longer flat curve, while a smaller lsa will make a shorter peakier curve. The advance makes the intake valve close earlier, boosting up the low end, at the cost of a little upper rpm power.

Thank Richard, I was hoping you would chime in. Is that Comp cam you mentioned available off the shelf or is that a custom grind? I thought in order to really take advantage of a cam you need to know your compression ratio, rear end size, stall, etc. or does that not really apply that much with these computerized trucks? Also, I have LS6 springs sitting here, would they work well with the cam you mentioned above?
