What I was trying to say is that going to a 220 or higher with your stock manifolds, you will not see the gains of the bigger cam nearly as much.

You are already resticting your current cam.

IMO headers with your current cam will be faster than a 220 with manifolds.

I wouldn't say the 220 is TOO big. Just not the most logical next step for you.

BTW, I'm no expert, just trying to help.

This was a custom cam from Cam Motion made for optimum torque out of a 5.3L with the stock torque converter. They've been having problems, however, with the blanks they've been getting, so if you were interested in this cam I would get the one that is nearly identical from Lingenfelter: The GT2

The GT2 would actually idle a little smoother than mine did due to the wider LSA. The price on the Lingenfelter is right, too - $249.00.

I think you should definately go with a TR220 on a 112 and sell me your 212/218 high lift for cheap. Just a thought.

I will say too that you would benefit from headers a good deal. I don't know that it would be as much as what some are making it out ot be though.

The headers are not required however.

I look at it this way. To swap a new cam in Im looking at maybe $200. I already have 918 and hardened PRs and the cam I have now holds descent value so I would probably just get another used cam. So that 200 is including fluids and everything. Headers and ORY and a catback I'd bee looking at 800-1000 bucks depending on brand. In a perfect world, I would put headers and ORY on and then keep the stock catback completely intact but add a cut-out right after the Y. Im 21 and already getting old man syndrome. I do like a comlpetely quiet cruise, and NO aftermarket muffler will be AS quiet as stock. At times I do appreciate a manly rumble, so I would always have the cutout.

Flyer, I was reinforcing your bottom end comment. I think we are kinda in the same mindset.

that problem was solved at least 6 months ago

SO many people try and follow the cookie cut mod list that you 'should' be doing. There's nothing wrong with doing things out of the ordinary.

THe only way to find out what works is to try it. I say get you a TR224 112 and let it roll. Drivability is all in the tune. I had a 233/239 113 in a 5.3, not with a stock converter, but it was still to much cam for the motor. It was something to hear a 5.3 wind out to 7k though! Not to mention the nasty idle it had.

Why do members of this board insist upon keeping a low stall or no stall at all yet do a cam swap? You like power, you want more power...why not do everything and get the best out of a setup instead of doin a cam swap and still being slow?
