Unhappy Blew my transmission

Well only about 4k miles on the shift kit, vette servo and tune (no TM), I've got the factory transmission cooler and was told it would be fine by the shop that did the work. I had a Yank TT 2600 put in about 1500 miles ago. Today pulling onto a main road i decided to gas it so i put it to the floor and it chirped into 2nd and then bam it sounded like something blew up and the revs stayed up near 5600 where i shifted and I coasted to a stop. It will reverse a little bit but you have to give it alot of gas and it feels like its real rickety and it won't go forward at all. Sounds like I'll need a new transmission but i'm not sure whether i want to get another stock 4l60e or get an already set up racing transmission. Also, will my converter still be good?? I don't beleive it has anything to do with the rearend, because the driveshaft won't turn at all when its in gear. It does sound like the transmission doesn't it? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for the replies. Mods are UP, K&N FIPK, flowmaster cat back, Nelson tune

thanks,
ryan

sounds like the tranmission, I woudl either put a level 5 flp or upgrade to a 4l80e if you plan on making some more power. the converter will need to be looked at and inspected for damage. also upgrade the tranmission cooler.

Black Blown is running a FLP level 4 and his setup makes quite a bit of power. He says he's been running it for a while with no probs. I may save a little and go for the level 4 myself since my truck has never and probably will never see a 1/4 mile strip. I think they go for $2100 plus core.
That sucks dude. Get a BIG tranny cooler next time.

You NEVER run a high stall converter in a truck/SUV without a aux tranny cooler if you want it to last, NEVER. Also you can just about burn out a 4L80 with a high stall and no aux cooler about as fast as you can a 4L60. Whoever told you that stock cooler would be fine was dead wrong and you should also "temper" their advise in the future too.

Here try these guys. They offer all the parts to bullet proof a 4L60E. I thought I'd pass it along. I wish they'd become a sponsor.

must be luck of the draw.....I'm about 100 more hp, Yank 3k stall, factory trans cooler.....only thing your truck has more of is weight (mines RCSB).

Sorry to hear it, hope you can find a good built trans. I've read great things about the FLP transmissions www.flp2win.com

I've heard that the transmissioncenter's Raptor has a really short warranty period.....cant find it on the site....

If you checked your tranny temps I would bet you would find that you were flirting with danger too,

I too have a Yank (TT3000) with the factory cooler, and realize that my truck only makes a little power, but my transmission is also holding up well. (knocking on wood). I'm not so sure about the NEVER comment you made, as my transmission hasn't gone near 200 degrees yet(really not even more then 160), even in 100 degree weather with the truck loaded down. I do realize that (other then too much power) heat is the main enemy of the 4L60e, and I also realize that an aftermarket cooler can be much more efficient, however, my stock cooler is doing a fantastic job of keeping trans temps in a safe range. I'm not an avocate of removing the TM and/or installing the shift kit and servo's in a daily driver in hopes to increase trans life. It sure seems like most people who have done this are the ones who are breaking transmissions.

Does anyone know where I can get a transmission swap done for my 00 silverado with a stock 4l60e? Is it easier to go from a stock to a built 4l60e, than to a 4l80e, and how much do you think installation would cost? I live in Spring, Texas and am willing to go pretty much anywhere in Texas. Thanx
