thats a multiple cylinder misfire i bet. you need to get a OBD computer and check your code first.

A flashing check engine light is an indication of a misfire. Its flashing to let you know you are damaging the catalytic converters. If The cylinders are not Firing the are not makeing any power. You will need a code reader or a scan tool to read the code for the check engine light.

The code will tell you were to look in order to solve the problem.

most common are the front O2s. How old are the spark plugs/wires? Anything done to the truck?

If the check engine light comes on for any reason it will record it. Even if the light is no longer on it will store a code in the history.

I am not sure what your using to check the codes, but maybe it is not reading properly. I would take it in to a qualified shop and get a second opinion. Try going some were that offers a free code check. Some auto parts stores offer this feature as well as some of the lube shops.

Not all scan tools and code readers are created equally. Some basic code readers will only show Currently Active codes.

Along with active codes that are currently displaying a check engine light. There are also Pending codes that are about to set that will not cause the light to go on as well as any codes that are no longer actively causing the light to set that will be stored in the history.
