Default Blown engine. Literally. Time for Stroker!

Hey guys,

So I seem to have blown my engine. I thought it was the lifters and/or cam from the drop in oil pressure and a loud sewing machine noise but they both seem to be fine. I'm speculating it might be either the connecting rods or crankshaft. However, if that's the case, I will be looking to buy a stroker kit. I have came across some really good deals on ebay. Can you guys help me choose the right one? Thanks!

Really appreciated.

That's too bad, but a chance to build it better. I'd skip eBay unless it's a really great seller with LOTS of feedback...I would call up Beau @ TSP and let him help you instead.

That was quick...

Sorry to hear that. Can you post a video of what it sounds like?

Just my opinion... but I'm not sure a stroker is the way id go. I'm sure many will disagree with me, but I dont like how far they pull the piston out of the cylinder on the bottom.

Unfortunately, we pulled the engine out and apart. Didn't get the chance to take a video. So the connecting rods bearings are broken and the crankshaft is also damaged. I think we traced the problem to the Melling oil pump failure. This pump is brand new and I just finished the install around 2 weeks ago. What do you guys recommend for oil pumps?

I think most just use stock oil pumps. Maybe have it ported... but stock seems to work well for most.

Did you make sure to properly align the pump on the crank?

A stroker may not be needed depending on your goals.

I'm not sure what the shop did but I will definitely make sure of it this time. It was super fine for 2 weeks and all of sudden gave out yesterday. What makes you say a stroker may not be needed?

It has its own set of issues, so depending on goals it may not be the way you want to go.

Was the correct pick-up tube o-ring used? Better make sure or your new motor will end up where this one is.

I would get a junk yard 6.0 and throw it in.

you can't beat the reliability of a GM built engine
