bolting up the front cover

bolting up the front cover
My mechanic has loaned me his lsx tool kit for installing the oilpan and front cover. He stressed the neccessity of using these tools to insure proper fit. He needs his tools back and I have yet to use them as I have a problem with stripped threrads on my oil pump. Do you use a specific tool when "covering" your engines back up? Thanks, Art

Not craftsman lol. Ken Moore, right?
I dident use a special tool on mine and had 0 problems, 0 leaks, and 0 concern. I imagine its best if you DO use them, especially since you have it at your disposal though.

never used them, never an issue. i always install my balancer before i fully tighten the front cover, that way the seal is centered and i make sure the cover is even at the block rails.

I run a dyno and have had the cover on and off countless times on Gen III engines, Ive never had a problem. I just slap it on and go, I never even go as far to put on the balancer in any special way like the guy above. The only thing I can say that I do is start with the bottom two bolts first.
I think its a way to:
A: Make repairs more expencive for the consumer
B: Sell some expencive specialty tools
