Default Borla Pro XS

I am going to put some longtube headers on with high flow cats soon. And I'm thinking about changing out my Flowmaster 50 out to the borla pro xs. I am currently running duel single in/out with 3" pipes. Has anyone had any experience with this type of set up?

Had a single 3" Pro XS on my tahoe for a few years in place of the stock muffler. It sounded nice and quiet for a while, but finally burned out (when the sound deadening material in the muffler burns away) and was really loud after about 3 years. I would go with Magnaflow. Had a magnaflow on my bronco, then went back to magnaflow after the pro xs muffler and like it more. Had the one on my bronco for 5 years, never burned out.

I wish I could run cat-less. But the state says I can't. Another ? Is there any benifit to running a y to a single in duel out? Or maybe a x pipe half way between the cats and muffler? Looking for the best sound/performance. Thanks for the advice

It was explained to me by a muffler shop owner that they use different sound deadening material inside. Magnaflow uses a stainless mesh mix and borla uses something else that burns away over time, causing the muffler to get progressively louder (I discovered this first hand). The Magnaflow case is also larger in circumference.

I would go single 3" with the xr1 and it will be nice I promise there no need for true duals on a stock or almost stock truck. Single 3" might even wake it up a bit
