Question Borla XR-1...Too Loud?

I've got a stock '06 Silverado 5.3L and want to just swap out mufflers for the time being since I can't really afford a Corsa system which is what I would get if I had the dough. I'm considering an oval XR-1 Sportsman muffler and keeping the rest of the oem system. Will this setup be too loud? Will it drone real bad? Will it sound nice and healthy? This is my daily driver so it can't be annoyingly loud or drone like a ****. I'm also considering the Hooker Aero Chamber which a lot of people love, but since I live in a coastal area I worry about how long it will hold up. The Borla being SS I would think would last much longer. Any advice or soundclips would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly, I dont remember the model number. I bought it complete with the single side exit cat back system $500 on sale. I have never heard a dissatisfied Borla customer though, just the muffler is all you need anyway. Get it. All Borlas are SST with SST packing too, the sound does not get raspy or change over time.

Hell no its not. It had a bit of drone at 2000-3000rpm's but I didnt care.. I had one. Oval Sportsman 40943 3" I/O with a 12" case.

Kinda crummy clips but it gives you an idea. Wish I had a better camera at the time.

I had an Borla XR-1 Sportsman on my 99 chevy 5.3 dumped before the axle. Nice sound but too quiet, esp. for the drone it produced. I Had a Floemaster 40 dumped before the axle 0n my 99 GMC with a 5.3. A little louder, but didn't like the sound and drone was worse than the borla. I now have a 03 GMC with a Corsa Sport Catback on a 6.0, side exit. Loudest system yet, love the sound and Zero Drone. Well worth the cash.

I heart my Borla. I'll try to get a vid/soundclip of it if you wish...

Let me be your first. I had Borla on my last truck and didn't care for the drone and lack of a gut sound when getting on it. The only other person that I actually knew that had one felt the exactly same way. Quality-wise you can't get much better. Very easy install. I think their muffler needs work though. Never tried the XR-1.
