I blew my motor(5.3), and trans last week, I found a 6.0 with the trans for $1500. I seriously think it would take a lot more than that to run 13's with a 4.8. Im shooting for 13's in mine ita a 4x4, hopefully I can salvage my cam, and I'm putting a stall in with a tune and shift kit, and thats it for now.

Don't worry, more tuning, stickier tires and faster times are coming VERY soon.

I was in the same boat as you with no 5.3 and 5 speed. So I just told myself I'd settle with the 4.8 as long as it had a blower on it. I have 5200 miles on mine and I've already done the mods in my sig. It will be a couple of weeks before I have any track times though. I highly recommend the "displacement replacement".

but whats more embarrasing
being beat by a 5.3L or getting your but handed to you by a lowly 4.8L that isnt running forced induction...but all motor
and is a half liter smaller than the competition
I totally agree about the no replacement for displacement..
I too would like to swap out, but I am limited to the 4.8L right now..
and it's a good laugh to spank some of that tail when I can..
but as usual theres always someone faster...
I take what I can get

For the guy who started the thread though, you could probably go somewhere in the 15's with the way the truck sits now.
