Default Brake Caliper Disassembly.

First off, I have never diassembled a caliper before.
Second off does GM sell just the casing and for how much.
third,
My plan is to have the calipers powdercoated because they look like crap and my 20's really expose them. I was going to get a brand new set have them done than swap them out without tying my truck up for two many days in the summer.

I remeber somebody here has done this before and I believe went a step further and chromed the brakets but I don't remeber who it was.?

ANY comments,questions,concerns??

Get some engine enamel .. that should do them. Seems like I read in a magazine or online article that this would to a really good job and looked professionally done.

Do you have an air compresser? Put an couple of rags between the pistons and the outside of the caliper. Apply a SMALL amount of air pressure at the hose inlet. The pistons will move out. DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND IN FRONT OF THE PISTONS, IT WILL HURT. Do not use metal to remove the seals it will score the walls. You can buy a seal kit from a dealer.
When putting the pistons back in be sure to soak the seals in fluid before you install them. It might take a couple of times to install them. The seals will roll. It is a pain. Good luck.
