Build the 5.3 or start from scratch?
I'm about to be purchasing a 4x4 NNBS truck soon. I been using my 2wd crewcab as my daily driver and that just ain't cutting it here in these Colorado winters. Besides, trying to keep the truck as my do-it-all truck is holding me back. I'm thinking about finding a 4x4 with a 5.3 so I can swap all my stuff over from the 2wd to the 4x4, like the supercharger, headers, exhaust and stuff.
Then I want to do something really stupid with the 2wd.
Obviously forged, turbo , whatever I need to get me somewhere north of 1K whp, LOL. I messed up and went to TX2K13 and got "inspired", .
Obviously there will be other drivetrain and suspension issues that will need to be sorted out to support this.
My question is, should I build my iron block 5.3 (LY5), or start from scratch with a different block, 6.0, 6.2, LSX, or whatever. Twin 62's, single 88, or what?.

Maybe I should ask it like this. If you were building your dream turbo LSX motor but you had a perfectly fine 5.3 liter iron block laying around. Would you sell the 5.3 and buy something like a Katech block, etc? Or would you stuff forged internals and a stroker crank in the 5.3?

4.8 or 5.3 are perfect. For turbos...idk if that can go to 1k hp. There's a few ppl running. Them stock form and running big numbers too. My advise. Is if you going to do it do it right the first time

Yeah I hear you. I want to do it right. I've never really went all out on anything I've done. Pretty much compromised on everything. I've accumulated a bit of funds lately and I really want to do something crazy. It will be done right this time, that's why I'm asking for suggestions.
