Build. Help
Im going to start a build. But don't know which direction I'm wanting to go to. The truck is going to be a single cab but. I don't know which way to do the engine and performance. Im wanting to go a big turbo possibly bigger than a 80mm. But the engine I don't know. A 427 maybe. But I wanna make big horsepower and some quick 1/4 mile times any help or suggestions

That 4.8 can hold some power, the trannys suck for them though.. You would need to do the 4l80 conversion...I think last one I read one guy on here hit 600+hp,thats pretty damn good... I have a low mount turbo set-up if your intrested, it does need some things though..

Get ahold of an LSX block and throw some PSI on it. With the trans. and other in's-and-out's you'll need, you'll have to budget that out. With that being said, check into this. It might not be what you want, being that you could come out cheaper with other things, make it more ideal, or even go with a 427, but it's nothing that you shouldn't atleast look into. Just throwing that out there.

Yeah. We got a couple of our local guys that's running 9's. One with a 408 and the other 370. Both with 91mm. I'm wanting to get up with their level or maybe thinking about a 1000hp supra

You may not quite need the LSX block for that, but it will definitely take the abuse. Another option would be building a forged 370ci turbo off a 6-liter iron block with some decent heads.

Or a 408, whatever your preference is. You're not looking for four-digit numbers, so the factory iron block itself shouldn't be too much of a limitation if you don't want the extra cost and weight of the LSX block.
