I would do one of the AES 390" packages with some mast or AFR heads and throw some 88mm boost at it.

Yeah, there you go, a forged engine based on the 6-liter truck block that is proven to over 1200rwhp. Further backing up my point that anything you do between 370-408ci using the factory iron block with forged internals should be perfectly capable of attaining your goals

Uh, if this guy is working with $25K and doesn't get a LSX to throw boost at, he's...typical.

The LSD block is rated for 2500Hp. But I heard the 370 can take the abuse too

AES makes good stuff, no doubt. I'd just prefer the LSX configuration with a single snail on it.

LSX 427 on twins & small shot:

Nah. Just fast, obviously--grudge truck. The numbers are up there, though.

If he wants the extra weight. Not everybody NEEDS an LSX block; they just don't. I don't. Never will. I don't see a reason to add something.g completely unnecessary to your build just because. Personally I would go for an ERL Superdeck I if I were doing a build like this to further reduce weight, but the 6-liter based engines are more economical do that's what I suggested, allowing for some flexibility with trans, tuning, turbo setup, etc. Why you think everybody with a budget of $25k and an itch for under 1000 boosted ponies needs a 2500hp-rated iron block is beyond me.

This guy has given MINIMAL information, so we give options. It's just great that you'll never need an LSX block, but this isn't about you. Why is the LSX unnecessary? I'm not following your logic. I assure you that the OP would be just fine with a mild-cube LSX and a PT88, or properly matched unit. You say what you would "personally go for", and I've done the same. I was beyond satisfied with the LSX I had built up, so I couldn't NOT suggest one. I know of plenty of manufacturers that make kick *** shortblocks, longblocks, full-race engines, etc. I'm aware that AES could probably meet the OP's needs, but that's not my suggestion--we can have two different suggestions, I assure you. You don't have to understand neither my logic, nor reasoning. I suggest a kick *** block, that clearly allows flexibility, and that's what I'd stick with. I never once said that I felt that everyone needed an LSX. Exaggerating the **** out of your statements to make a point gets old, quick. If everyone chose to run the same thing, you'd see index classes, all the way up to Outlaw cars, that didn't differ one bit. I stated my way of going about doing it. If the OP wants more details on it, I'd be glad to fill him in on every little thing I'd throw together. If the OP doesn't give a **** and never goes through with the build, then I won't. This is the internet. Nothing is so serious, as to where someone should take offense to a suggestion and follow up by being a smartass.

Edit: Better yet, I'd rather just be banned than waste my time arguing with someone like you. I feel like I'm arguing with someone behind Autozone's counter. I'm out of here.

I'd punch an iron 6.0 block over to a 370. Run some forged rods and pistons. Then put my money into the heads, turbo system, fuel system, drivetrain, and suspension.

I guess it won't impress some people in this thread. But it will be ******* fast, and something that can DD around town.

Honestly, you could run a 6.0 and make the power you're after. But then again, it will just be your average, everyday truck that puts down 1000rwhp.
