For those of you that are having transmission problems, I have been looking on the impala ss forums and they seem to like teamtripp. Someone might call them and check them out. I think that the cars weigh about what our trucks weigh (not sure though).

Only what was said on the impalla ss forums. Their website is www.teamtripp.com . I have had mine built for a little over a year now here locally pretty much to teamtripp's top 4l60 transmission listed and have had no problems. It has been through some nitrous (even through the gears) and theres not a day that goes by that it dont get tortured and its still standing. we'll see how much it can take when the radix goes in.

I don't like the 3/4 clutches they use. A lot of people say the 9 disc pack can't dissapate the heat well enough because they are so thin, leaving them to build up lots of heat and glaze over.

For all the other clutches, that should be OK ... I don't think that they are the 'best' out given what they say in the write up, but probably well suited for some trucks.

They also use the vette servo. I think the billet would be a better choice though. As well as the billet OD servo.

Ive had the billets, with no washers. I think that they are good at keeping the bands from burning up. I think that they will kill the hard parts though. I would rather burn up a few clutches every few years than break planetaries, sunshell, etc.

i'd way preferr the billet servo and 8 raybestos blue plate kit over the alto 9 plate and corvette servo. sounds more like something you'd use for towing.

i have been keeping in contact w/ azisso which is the arizona club i belonged to back when i had my impala... and they have been having crazy tranny horror stories just like 01thundr had w/ his people. there is a very shady shop in phoenix jackin their **** up.

I think most people break **** when on a launch. I broke mine on a 1-2 shift, but that was becuase the builder had it shifting so hard. He had billet servos and 2 washers in the 1-2 accumulator. It would bark the tires at 1/4 throttle. Billet servos only come into play on the 1-2 shift and 3-4 shift and are what holds the band in 2nd and 4th. They won't have anything to do with 1st or 3rd. Those are all clutches there.

Onyx ... what transmissions are they having luck with?

they are still using the 4L60e for their automatics... they finally found a really good shop to go to. alot of the impala owners that want to go manual switch to T-56, and there is a wagon guy who is gonna maybe go 700R4.

the thing i know that they dont have to worry about are the 5 planetaries.
