lol i see you haven't been introduced to an cummins w/ some aftermarket parts. Lets just say 500 rwhp is nothin on a street legal cummins, just ask some of the members of the turbodieselregister. Those boys know how to run em, as i've seen them race and run the 1/4 in 12s and 13's As fer the motor, they sell 3000 and 4000 rpm governer kits... much bigger injectors... and turbos. and as for tranies.. jsut ask dtt about theirs. Now i don't know how the newer cummins are but the 12v and 24v are darn near unbeatable. I don't mean to insult because i'm a 100% gm fan but people need to know the potential of a cummins

um, nope the cummins is a dog stock, until this "new" HO version. for years teh stock 12 valve CTD made 175 hp. now they are legendary for going over 300,000 miles before a rehaul and they can take a serous beating with major boost, but they have had for years very small turbos and their injectors are maxed out very quickly with just small increases from programers. so without major turbo and injector changes with programing, they arent much to deal with compared to a duramax or PSD programed. esp considering their very low reving capability. speed is determined with the amount of acceleration stretched out as long as possible throughout the rpm band. since a CTD only revs to about 2500 rpms max, it isnt much of a track star. that combined with their trash automatic trannys and no one wants to race a turbo diesel with a manual (lose your boost).

I do agree Dodge needs to go back over their automatics but GM's later model ones aren't worth a **** either when they burn up 3-4 clutch packs @ 375rwtq and blowout sun gear reaction shells like it is supposed to happen. Dodge's trannies really need a badass shift kit and a big cooler, those slow shifts is what causes them to burn up.
Does Dodge offer an auto in their new trucks with the Cummins yet or are you still stuck with the big 6 speed?
