THe 4-Wheel discs probably has something to do with it also.

Remove your ABS fuse.

not seeing how this will help, the abs isn't on during a burnout.

Well, think about it like this. You are trying to spin the rear tires. The computer sees a difference in wheel speed between the front and rear wheels. The computer proportions brake pressure to the rear brakes. By pulling the fuse, the computer will not try to put pressure to the rear brakes.

Torque management doesn't affect the car if it is not shifting does it?

TC is your best bet.

my '01 Tahoe with a Whipple at 9psi, headers, stock converter, etc would NEVER do a burnout no matter what I tried. The same setup with a pickup will burn the tires for 200ft. The 4-link suspension is the big difference as it allows the truck to squat and actually hook. You will appreciate it at the track as traction is not an issue.

the system doesn't work that way. the brake proportioning system is done by how level the vehicle is. the pcm has it's own way of taking power away.

i believe the tahoe is a 5 link (2 lowers, 2 uppers, and one panhard bar). this helps in gaining traction and is far superior to a leaf spring setup, but mostly the tahoe having some weight over the rears does the job. even the old body style with leafs wouldn't do a burnout in most cases.

Hey Zippy, Tell your friend to get that G80 Gov-Lok pile of crap out of there before doing any more power mods. At minimum an Eaton Posi should be installed but the real problem is the 10-bolt housing which WILL flex and WILL fail catastrophically. The L31 Vortec 350 is an absolute torque monster under boost and every piece of drivetrain WILL BE at risk.

Trust me on this.

more than likely i'm going to get him to put a detroit locker in there and get rid of the gov-lock. i'm certainly not a fan of them in the first place and they make for terrible drifting fun. i think the 8.5 should handle 12's without much problem from the axle tubes, but if it does i'll put a 9.5 in it from a 6600gvw truck. ordered the vigilante for it today and only a 2800 stall so that the engine is just getting into the boost upon launch. this will allow racing on the street tires and keep drivetrain problems down on something already lowered.
