burning oil?

Default burning oil?

just bought a 2007 sierra 4.8 with 42,500 miles and the truck is marking low oil opened the hood checked the dip stick it marked the last dot and im worried that its burning oil. Has anyone else had this problem?

It just means you need to perform routine maintenance to the truck first, then decide it has an issue.

^^^what he said. Change the oil and make sure it is the correct level. Check it periodically after that to see if it is using oil. If it is, first thing I would check/replace is the pcv valve.

Lest talk about this pvc valve. Could it cause your engine to burn a ton of oil?

As weird as it sounds my 02 used a offbrand synthetic once and I was told it will hold up whatever you give it (I was in hard times) 1200 miles later my dash sAid check engine oil level- it was 3 quarts low. I changed it out to a name brand now it's only half quart every 3500

Im experiencing lots of oil consumption and im doing everything I can aside from rebuilding my engine. Sorry for derailing your thread op.

From the last engine builder I talked to he was upset with the " dinosaur oil " I used in my boosted motor. He said use ams or royal purple. I told him I was also using Lucas oil stabilizer he almost threw up. I told him it's worked so far he just stopped talking to me

One give away if you burning oil is smoke if any and what color if it's a gray or bluish color it's probably burning oil
