Default A/C quit and it's almost SUMMER

OK today I did my electric fans, I'll post more on that later. They work great BTW. Well crusing along I noticed my A/C was not cold. This is what I've done so far.
Checked a/c fuse in fuse box in cab.
Checked a/c fuse in under hood box. (small one)
Checked $20 fuse underhood (swaped one out by friend at local dealer so I wouldn't be out $20 if that was not the problem)
Checked schrader valve for pressure(yes)
I know there is a switch on the evaperator that the refrigerant lines go to that could be bad but that thing is $40
The a/c clutch is not engaging any help here???

The "open throttle" switch is not a switch, but a function controlled by the pcm. I think you probably blew something during the fan install. Jump the two wires going to the low pressure switch at the filter/drier. If the compressor comes on then you are low on refrig or the switch is bad. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

take a block of wood and hit the clutch, see if it will engage then and if it starts to cool.
if it doesnt engage then something is wrong.

my dad did this on my 89 jimmy and it kicked in, (this was after we replaecd the compressor)

also get some soapy water and spray it around all the a/c components that will tell if there is a leak. if there is a leak around the compressor i believe you'll have to get another one.

but it does seem weird that it just happened after you installed the electric fans. check and see if the relays are working with a volt meter etc.

I found the problem the other day and DUUHHHHH. There is a 10 amp ignition fuse under the hood that was blown. This fuse powered the relay turn ons. I replaced it and pulled the relay to reset it and aaahhhhhh cool air once again. It also helps that my stepdad has a 2000 1500 also. That makes it easy to cross check electrical problems.
