Default CA Exhaust?

Ok guys, I have a 99Z28 right now that I'm selling for a 2002 Silverado 5.3L. I am no stranger to CA smog and exhaust regulations, I've dealt with them for four years with my car. On F-bodies, you can't put in LT headers because they move the location of the cats. However, do LT's on trucks move the cats? The truck I am getting has a Flowmaster 40 series on it. I am thinking if going with duals or something like that, but I want to check out my options first, thanks!

Check out the thread I posted, regarding my recent PaceSetter LT install. My cats are in the factory location.

Yes, long throws move the cats. There used to be another option, The Other Guys (TOG), who made mid-lengths. The piece was very nice but they went out of business. They went right up to the cats and welded up. Now all you have for options are: (1) shorties, which are not worth the time, or (2) illegal.

Not 'in general' but the item has to have a CARB number to be legal. TOG headers were the longest header to have a CARB number (mid-length, better than shorties), now it's just shorties unfortunately.

LT's are illegal in CA because they move the location of the cats. So basically, any headers are legal as long as the cats don't move the cats and they have a CARB number.

The only thing that matters is that they have a C.A.R.B. number-period. That goes for any engine mod. IE; modifying stock airbox is technically illegal.
