Default California Exhaust Options

Since I live in Califonia, I cant do long tubes, and I dont think shorties would do much more than the stockers (correct me if I am wrong).
What exhaust systems are you guys running that are Cali approved?
(When I say approved, I mean almost legal and should pass the visual).

FYI, right now I have a bone stock 05 crew cab.
In the future, I plan to do chip tune, CAI, MAYBE cam and MAYBE a 6-speed swap.

I live in Ca and always have run LT headers with cats and a cam and have passed emmisions 3 times...I would say to either get a set of used TOG headers or Bassani new..Both are mid length and allow you to retain your stock cats..OR get a set of Pacesetter lt's with ory and weld you stock cats to the ory..should pass with a good tune....Good luck

im in cali and i went with bassani mids, they use the stock y pipe, but you have to cut the pipe from the front of the cat off and weld on their flange, took the shop a half hour, and smog legal with the carb number.

Do you think the stock Y is a big restriction?

you cannot modify the cats in any way, its illegal to even replace a cat without notice of it being defective
aftermarket cats must be 50 state legal
headers must have a carb number
exhaust is pretty open, no real rules other than it must have a muffler, and meet certain db regs.

I run longtubes, an off road y-pipe. When it comes time to smog I'll weld some cats inti the y-pipe. The smells not to bad without cats.
