Default calling the procharger guys

1) I really want to get the air filter location solved. Has anyone truly had good luck with this issue, or have any ideas for me on how to fx it? It would be cool to run piping over to the stock filter location, but I worry about the temps a little. Really want to keep those iat's down.

2) I am starting to get these really narley grooves in the procharger idler pulleys and I am going through belts because the outside edge of the belt gets really small tears in it. Has anyone experienced this? My best guess is that the blower itself is not quite aligned. Has anyone had to adjust the alignment with shims of some sort?

Help always appreciated.

I got a cowl hood and put a 4" 90 degree elbow on the back of the charger. This puts my filter right up in the cowl. The cowl sucks cool air in above 30 mph. Unfortunately, buying a cowl hood isn't very cost effective.

You can probably put a 4" elbow and larger K&N on there and turn it up where your FMU used to be. That'd help a little with temps.

I thought about this same issue for months, and I just couldn't think of a good way to pipe to a cool location.

You might want to look into the vortech supercharger intake setup. It's intake is in the stock location. You might be able to make that work with a little fabbing.

I don't have any grooves in the idlers. I checked my alignment with a straightedge off of the crank pulley and it was perfect. How many miles do you have on your blower now?

OK, I don't have a procharger on a truck but, used to have one on my car.

1. What about moving the battery to the rear passenger side of the engine compartment like Flyer did and running the air filter down through where the battery was. Of course this would also mean the window washer fluid resevoir would probably need to be moved/taken out. Less weight though right.

2. If it's like the car idler pulley the grooves are just because the idler is made of soft aluminum. The belt eventually eats down into it. The one on my car lasted about 12K miles before I was scared that it was going to fall apart. You can get a new one from ATI but, it'll cost ya. You need it though before that one breaks. I think belt slip will aggravate this situation.

I thought about the battery relocation, but that seems like so much effort. That makes me feel a little better someone else has worn out their idler pulley. I don't know the milage right off the top of my head, but I would say 15K plus at least. Everytime I order something from procharger, they hit me with a crazy packaging fee. Arg. Guess I need to order a new pair. I am sure that I am getting a little belt slip too, becasue I am using a 3.4" procharger pulley currently.

Black, your ideas are always expensive!! The hood seems like a great solution, but I'm not sure I am ready for that drag car look just yet. How's that FLP holding up? I really need to decide on a tranny pretty soon.

The FLP is working perfectly.

Can't remember if i've asked you already, but what MAF #'s are you seeing with that 3.4" pulley? How's it feel? Any track times yet?

Seems like you were seeing about 50 lbs/min at 5400 a while back. Did you ever raise those shift points?

Very high 40's and Low 50's on the MAF. I got the AFR and the timing dialed in pretty close before I had to leave for Boston to work for the summer (I am still in Boston). It pulls super hard, but the truck isn't that fast becuase I don't have my tranny or stall yet. I have been keeping my eye out for a motor for quite a while now. It is a bit of a trick getting something heavy like that shipped to AK. No track times yet. And, I am still torn between the 80 or the FLP. Considering the truck is a 99, it is almost silly to go to the labor of putting the 80 in. The FLP and a PYE3400 would be so much easier!! Black, when are you getting your 409 with AFR heads (that's what I want anyway)?

409 with AFR heads would be my dream setup. Turbo too!

I've got a big front mount intercooler coming from griffin. After that, a NX wet 100 shot. Mod money is very tight right now though.
