Thank you what all did you have to pull when you put the cam in

Regular cam swap stuff. Water pump, valve covers, intake, timing chain, lifters etc....

Man...I would hate to think that anyone ever considered equipping the Buick Grand National with a V8, not to mention the Syclones and Typhoons...lotsa V6 haters in this thread lol. I think it would be interesting to see what the lil 4.3 can really do.

v6 haters because the truck v6 is worthless. doesn't have the power to do anything truck-like nor does it get better mileage, worthless. not like its turboed like the granny or syclone/typhoon, never meant to be performance anything.

to the OP, since you are where you are in life sounds like doing any work to your truck is a pointless endeavor. wait a couple years until you're out of school, get a good job that'll let you have time and money for your hobby. i'm just saying get the important things out of the way first and play later.

You want a V6 truck to sound NASTY!

Have you tried registering over at gmfullsize?

A full size truck simply weighs too much and has too much air resistance for a v6. It works in the grand national, Syclones, and other small sized trucks cuz the weight is more of a car, but still lots of people will throw a v8 in the cars and trucks for the effortless power!

unless he wants a bunch of people telling him to debadge/colormatch/become a supporting member......GMFS is a waste of time these days.

Aside form the V6 itself....I think most of the issue with the 4.3 fullsize lies in the fact that it's coupled with a 4l60 and shitty shift programming/torque management and highway gearing. A gear swap would probably help more than a cam swap as most came with the 3:31? ratio.

I know my 06 has the factory pedestal mount roller rockers, EGRless intake and upgraded MPFI injectors.
