Cam for a 6.0L?
thinking of putting a cam in my 1500HD truck. I want something with some low end torque becouse I use this truck mainly for towing. What cam does everyone else run? Anyone have suggestions and dyno graphs of some of your combo's?

I will be ordering a cam tomorrow that Richard at west coast cylinder heads recommended for me to get for my 6.0. Custom grind 208/208 .554/.554 on a 112 lsa. He says that it gives excellent power right off idle and he has one in his 6.0.

For a 6 liter, I would go with somthing like a 212/218 high lift cam on like 112lsa. The 6.0 is a larger motor than the 5.3 and will eat up a smaller cam like a 208. Just my opinion...

I put Lingenfelter's GT2-3 cam in the 6L that I just dropped in my truck. (207/220, 571/578, 118 lsa) We've had good luck with it in cars. It adds 30-40hp, has great mid range power, & is VERY easy to tune for a good idle. But it doesn't give you that lopey cam sound. The 112 lsa cams people are recommending sound killer, but my exp is they take hours of tuning to get to start and idle right. Might be OK for a race car, but not for my tow vehicle....

yeah I want this for towing. so it needs to be all low to mid range power increase. Anyone have dyno graphs of any of these cams? I would like to see the power curve on the ones that were mentioned with the exception of the 224 cam. I think it will take it out of the range I'm looking for.

I was waiting for you to inquire about that..... I was going to recommend it too. I am running a 01 LS6 cam (smaller than the 02+) in my 4.8 RCSB with a 5spd and 3.73 gears. The cam requires a tiche' of idle tuning (because my motor is small) and virtually no startup tuning. Rework the VE table and Spark table and you'll have a nice cam for that 6.0 that'll tug at your neck from a dead stop and pull great up to 5500 RPM+. The specs on the 01 LS6 cam are 205/215 @ .050 and a .525/.525 lift which is easy on valvetrain parts. LSA is 116.5 I believe. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. This is a tow rig, you want gas mileage, torque and smooth overall driveability. I wouldn't "over cam" yourself. You'll just be pissed in the long run. If you want go to aftermarket, go with the one of the Vinci cams below. If I had the money at the time I would have put the 080 in my 4.8 but instead got new take out Z06 cam with springs for only $50 so I went that route and I'm very very happy.
