Which cam is best for me?
Im interested in camming my truck but i dont want it to be non streetable.
I was thinking a 212/218 114lsa or.... a 216/220 114lsa.
Which cam is best i plan on also getting it tuned and soon after buying a TT3000stall.
Its my daily driver and dont wanna do any two footed driving. Whats it gonna be?!

I'm between the same two cams. I've talked my self into doing a yank tt2600 converter with it, so I'm leaning towards the 216/220 cam. From what I've heard on here the 212/218 is a solid cam for stock converter, and I think it may even get by without a tune. Of course every cam works better with a good tune. I have a HP Tuners so I think either is small enough for me to give it a try.
Hope this helps if not, bump for ya.

If you go with the 216/220, I'd go with at least a 2800 RPM converter. I was running that same cam in my 04 5.3 crew cab with 3.90 gears and a hughes performance 2500 converter, and it was suffecient, but definitely not optimal. My 60' times were not the best in the world, damn good cam though.
You'd definitely need a tune either way

That's my understanding. Worst case the bottom end is a bit lazy. Unless you are looking for all out drag times, it's not really a bad thing. I personally think it might prolong tranny life.
As a disclaimer I've yet to buy my cam I've just been researching for quite a while.

I wanna say wheatley was running the 212/218 hi lift on his crew cab for a while with stock converter. Ran good.
As far as the 216/220, I mean don't get me wrong it ran good even with the 2500 stall. My best 60' at the track was a 2.21 with slicks and a 5000# truck. But it would have really woke up with a 2800-3000 stall.
As far as surging. Nope, not at all. The only thing I did have issues with is it dying while in idle or reverse, but that was on the stock tune. Once I had nelson adjust the tune for the cam and headers, it ran great. I really like the 216/220 cam for a mild cam IMO.
