Default Cam and Check Engine Light ???

If I put a cam from a 1998-2000 Ls1 car cam in my 5.3 truck, will it throw on the check engine light?

I think the current 6L cam is a bit larger than that one. Neither should throw a code if its installed correctly.

I think he means if you install it straight up. With no advance or retard, like the factory did. Then you shouldn't have a problem.

If you have a low LSA you increase you chances of the P0300 DTC. The factory LSAs are around 115. Try installing a 112 or less and see if the SES MIL goes set.

I am in the process of getting a cam with 114lsa, what is the PO300 code and will the hpp3 get rid of it? I know, I know HPTUNERS or NELSON TUNE is on the way.

PO 300 is random cylinder misfire

HPtuners will fix, this HPP3 will not.
