With that cam, no way on stock stall. You'd be pushing it with a trailblazer stall. When I had my 04 crew cab, I was running a 216/220 cam which is pretty small compared to what some are running, I was using a hughes 2500 stall and while it ran fine and and netted me decent gains, it was undersized at best. I had all intentions of running a 3000-3200 stall before I got rid of it. If you have no intentions of ever taking it to the track or trying to take off fast at a light then a trailblazer stall would work with that cam, but it definitely won't win you any 60' records.
My personal opinion, with the cam your looking at, I would go no less than a 3000 stall, but thats just me. Maybe someone else can chime in and prove me wrong. But like I said, it really depends on your use, but I would assume since you are considering a cam swap and a cam of that size, that you like performance. Also, another thing to consider is your rear gear ratio. When I was looking to upgrade converters, fuddle racing explained that with deeper gears its better to run more stall, I was looking at 4.10's and a little larger cam, so a 3200 stall was right for me.

it would scream when it hits 4k rpms and up but that would take a long time for you to get from 1500 to the power band. The stall gets you into your power FASTER. What you said about creating more heat is true, which is why we put bigger coolers on the truck to help the trans stay nice and cool. The same could be said about the cam.. why put a bigger cam into the motor so you can rev higher and put more stress on the valvetrain? :-P
220/224 cam in a ecsb will probably feel like crap off the line and espically towing. Yank and fuddle make stalls that tow just like factory that stall to 2600 or 2800
oh and im use to big stalls.. I have a vig3600 in mt TA and wish i had a yank4200 lol. I had a 2800 in my car and it felt like stock. Im sure the 3000 in my truck should feel like a 3200 would in my car, atleast i hope so anyway

Not to highjack the thread, but I'm also looking at a 220/224 cam. I don't really want a 3000 stall converter since my truck is a dd in stop and go traffic 90% of the time. Think a TB stall would work for me?

in my opinion if you really dont want to go with a bigger stall then dont go with a big cam..... find a cam that is going to work great with your converter... the TB stall will match up real good with a comp216/220... this cam has a real good power and has a good lope to it!! by the way they are selling one in the classifieds right now...
